'FOR I WILL YET PRAISE HIM':
Are you going through pain and hardship right now? Just remember this: Whatever you are going through is only part of your story. We know that there is great good coming. How do I know? Because you are royalty! Look at David. The first part of his story was soo difficult even though he had been anointed as King. He had to run for his life and hide in caves for years. It was during this time that he wrote Psalm 42:
"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng.
[Especially this part:]
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." (Psalm 42:1-5 NIV)
David learned something very important in the caves. In the crucible of persecution he learned how to speak to his soul and will it into hope even through tears and gut-wrenching pain. He learned that hope doesn't disappoint there in the caves because he learned to lean on his faith about all else (Romans 5:5). I know that many of you are right there - struggling in those caves with something very serious going on in your life. I have been there too. I have had to declare over and over, "He will never let the righteous fall" through gritted teeth and with tears flowing.
BUT THAT IS NOT WHERE THE STORY ENDS
We know that David did live to praise Him. His ultimate story is a triumphant one. He became King. He had riches, honor, blessings, spiritual favor and a closeness with the Father that not many other Kings had in the Old Covenant. He was blessed to be given the honor to be in the lineage of Jesus and (as we can read in Psalms) he was given a spiritual understanding of grace that wasn't known in those days.
Even though it is difficult right now I know that you will also come through. Just like David, THIS IS NOT WHERE YOUR STORY ENDS! You will "Yet praise Him" and just like David, you are part of the everlasting, powerful Kingdom that brings miracles every single day. Your victory is on its way!
